Abstract
Medical animation has emerged as an important visualization tool for surgical training, patient education, and healthcare communication. With the increasing complexity of medical procedures and the need for effective knowledge transfer, animated visualizations provide a clear, engaging, and scientifically accurate representation of anatomical structures and surgical processes. This study investigates the role of medical animation in enhancing surgical training and improving communication between healthcare professionals and patients. Using a mixed-methods research design, the study integrates survey responses from healthcare professionals (n ≈ 160), semi-structured interviews with surgeons and medical educators (n = 12), and comparative analysis of training outcomes using animation-based learning versus traditional instructional materials. The findings suggest that medical animation significantly improves comprehension of surgical procedures, enhances knowledge retention, and reduces cognitive load for trainees and patients. Additionally, animated visualization supports remote learning, telemedicine communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The study proposes a Medical Animation Integration Framework (MAIF) for healthcare education and communication. The research contributes to the interdisciplinary fields of medical visualization, digital health communication, and animation-based education.
