Smart Hotel: Expectations versus Ground Reality of Satara District

ABSTRACT
Smart Hotel facilities are modern, technology-driven amenities that enhance guest comfort, convenience, safety, and efficiency. Smart Hotels combine luxury with technology, improving guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and sustainability. In this researcher paper researcher covered the only Satara District Smart Hotels, particularly in Tourism destinations because they easily collected the data. In Satara District there are most famous tourists’ places are Kass Plateau it is Popularly known as the “Valley of Flowers of Maharashtra”. In 2012, UNESCO declared it a “World Natural Heritage Site”. Satara district is best known for the Kaas Plateau (flowers), Mahabaleshwar–Panchgani hill stations, historic forts like Sajjangad & Ajinkyatara, waterfalls like Thoseghar & Vajrai, and Koyna dam & sanctuary. So, researcher collected data from all this tourists’ places located in Smart Hotels, Researcher has taken only 147 Hotels in Satara District and frame one main objective is the causes of discrepancies between the expected and the actual Smart Hotel development in Satara Districts.
The researcher Collected the data in four variables Smart Information System, Intelligent Tourism Management, Smart Safety, Smart Facilities /Services and then analysis the data, the researcher found that the some of hotels there are used the Smart Facilities but local level Hotels are not aware that much level so they need to developed the facilities in the Hotels. Smart Safety like as Hotels is focusing more on digital safety than physical on-ground security. Smart Facilities / Services are in Contactless and futuristic smart in-room technologies are almost absent, despite being standard in global smart hotels. The hotel owner should improve the Smart safety for Mobile patrols in hotel parking and common areas and also install smart lighting, facial recognition cameras, and visible security tools to deter criminals.
They should give the prioritize contactless technologies such as self-service kiosks and mobile check-in/check-out, QR-based room service and food ordering, Smart room panels (IoT) to control lights, temperature, curtains, etc. Post-pandemic necessity to invest in crowd management and contact tracing tools. For luxury hotels: Introduce biometric authentication (face/fingerprint check-in) to attract premium customers.
