Abstract:
The twenty-first century has brought unprecedented levels of cultural diversity shaped by globalization, migration, digital connectivity, and social change. As a result, young people today are exposed to different identities, values, and cultural perspectives from an early age. It argues that multicultural understanding helps young people develop empathy, reduce prejudice, and build inclusive communities. Schools, digital platforms, and families play essential roles in fostering this awareness by promoting cultural education, critical thinking, and respectful dialogue. While challenges such as misinformation, stereotyping, and social division persist, strengthening multicultural awareness among youth is crucial for achieving social harmony and preparing the next generation to thrive in culturally diverse societies. This research paper examines the role of multicultural awareness among youth, its influence on social harmony, identity development, and global citizenship, and the challenges that persist in creating an inclusive environment. Drawing from contemporary research, international reports, and educational policy perspectives, the paper argues that multicultural awareness is not only beneficial but essential for shaping responsible, empathetic, and globally competent young citizens.
