Abstract
The Information Explosion has changed the dimensions of the world, naturally for library and information science and scientometrics as well .After the information explosion, it has become more crucial to evaluate scientific literature, research output, and digital knowledge. As there was a deer need for efficient retrieval, analysis and evaluation of the same. AI based technologies such as machine learning (ML),Natural language processing (NLP) and big data analytics have significantly changed the ways of information processing ,retrieval and interpretation in the scientific domain.
AI is playing a pivotal role in evaluation of the information, processing large databases, analysing and generating fast real time responses. Plagiarism detection, identifying the current sentiments by analysing the data in public forum discussions, social media and discussions in social media. AI analyses citation networks, author influence, and topic trends to estimate long-term academic impact.
AI powered tools can detect the interdisciplinary research influence.it can also perform the deep semantic research to identify the emerging trends and research gaps in the field. AI helps detect biases in scientific publishing, such as gender disparities, regional research dominance, and ethical issues in peer review processes. It promotes a more equitable research ecosystem.
AI has enhanced the information processing, evaluation and retrieval. Integration of AI tools have empowered the researchers, librarians and policymakers. However, the integration of AI in scientometrics must be balanced with ethical considerations and human oversight to ensure a fair and accurate evaluation of scientific progress.
